Over the past few years I have become the Disney-GO-TO-girl in my circle of friends, family, and beyond. Probably because my family and I vacation to Walt Disney World about twice a year. I get asked all kinds of questions about all things Disney. I’m asked everything from what is the best resort, best time to go, and is Disney really worth it. Without a doubt the most frequently asked question is: “IS DISNEY BABY/ TODDLER FRIENDLY OR SHOULD WE JUST WAIT TO GO?” My answer is always the same and it is YES- TOTALLY BABY/TODDLER FRIENDLY GO!
Here are just a few reasons WHY YOU SHOULD TAKE YOUR BABY/ TODDLER TO WALT DISNEY WORLD.
1.GUESTS UNDER 3 ARE FREE- I don’t know about you, but if you are anything like me FREE is always a good thing. Everyone knows that vacations are expensive and Disney vacations can be very pricey. A 1-day pass to Magic kingdom for a child’s ticket (3- 9 years old) is $118 for a midsummer day and that can get very costly, very quick, especially if you have a large family and you plan to frequent the parks. So take advantage of that free ticket while you can!
- THERE IS PLENTY THAT YOUR LITTLE ONE CAN DO– Disney does a fabulous job of making their parks very family friendly. Many attractions and rides have no height requirements. Many attractions even allow for you to hold your infant or toddler in your lap during the ride. Some of my favorite family friendly rides are: Dumbo, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Mad Tea Party, The Great Movie Ride, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Finding Nemo, and so many more! Plus there are daily parades, light shows, fireworks, street performers, and so much more to keep you and your little one entertained!
3.RIDER SWITCH OPTION– Disney has a wonderful program that allows parents to ride the “big coasters” even if their little ones don’t meet the height requirements or if they are just too scared. With Rider Switch, one adult can wait with the non-rider (or riders) while the rest of the party enjoys the attraction. When the other adult returns, they can supervise the non-riding Guests, and the waiting adult can board the attraction without having to wait in the regular line again! Rider Switch is available at most attractions at all 4 Walt Disney World parks.
4.BABY CARE CENTERS– Disney thinks of everything, they want the guest experience to truly be magical, even when it comes to caring for your wee ones in the park. Every park has strategically placed Baby Care Centers where you can take your little ones for a diaper change, feeding, or just a quiet time away from the hot Florida sun. They are all equipped with changing areas, private nursing rooms, microwaves, and nearly any baby necessity you would need for purchase.
5.FOOD OPTIONS ARE GREAT– The majority of the restaurants on Disney property are geared towards family and they do a great job at catering toward even the pickiest of eaters. Most menus include chicken nuggets, pizza, or macaroni and cheese, as well as a child’s dish that is themed with the general theme of the restaurant. The restaurants are also great about catering toward special dietary needs just let the chef know in advance.
Disney also is one of the few theme parks that allows you to bring food into the parks, so if your little one has a certain snack that they must have- no worries it is totally allowed! It is also a great way to save money if you want to bring a picnic lunch into the park.( But i suggest a Disney Dining plan but that’s a whole different blog for a different day
6.HOTELS ARE SO ACCOMMODATING- Traveling with a baby can be a bit bulky, especially when you have to pack the pack-n-play, high chair, life jacket, etc., but no worries- Disney has you covered!!!! The great thing about staying on Disney property with a little one is you don’t have to pack all of that bulky baby gear. Disney will gladly provide you with a crib for you little one to sleep in, just make sure you tell your booking agent at the time of booking to ensure one is available at time of check in. Disney Resorts also provide life jackets at all of their Resort pools for all of their guest to insure safety. Lastly, all Disney Restaurants provide high chairs so no worrying about where your little one will sit.
Disney makes vacationing with your baby/toddler a very enjoyable experience not just for them, but for the whole family. There are actually some perks to traveling with wee ones. Don’t miss out on magical memories just because you have a little one. Embrace their age and make some memories! Happy Travels!
